The UK Highly Skilled Migrant Programme was very popular and was an excellent UK immigration category for entry to the UK for successful people with required skills for the UK economy. The system has been replaced by Tier 1 (General) of the UK’s new points based system. Tier 1 (General) uses very similar criteria to the Highly Skilled Migrant programme.

Highly skilled individuals include doctors, scientists, engineers, MBAs, and other educated workers. If you can speak English, have earned at least the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree, and can show that you have earned a relatively good income in the past, Tier 1 (General) is the right scheme for you. Remember that the visa entry route for Highly Skilled Migrant no longer exists and the UK government will also regulate the number of applications from outside the UK within any given period.

immigration

You will usually get your immigration decision after you have submitted your application and this will be accompanied with information on how to appeal the decision if it is a negative decision. This information will include the appropriate form to use and deadlines that have to adhere. Usually there is no cost of lodging an appeal however if you instruct a solicitor or immigration adviser then usually there is a cost for their service.

How do I receive notice of an immigration decision?

Usually the immigration decision is sent to the applicant or their representative and this decision will notify them of the immigration appeal rights applicable to the case if any. The date of the decision is important because the date of the decision and when this is received are crucial in ensuring that the appeal is lodged in time. There may be complications if the appeal is not lodged in time.
